Location: Chicago | Packing for a gig tonight I see that my old Fender (nylon) bag is wrecked. I'd like some advice on how to replace it. I carry the usual: 6-7 cords, a few pedals, power-strip, duct tape, guitar stand etc. I imagine there must be some very cool stuff out there . Gotta say: the Fender gig bag is very awkward and poorly designed. |

I have an old Trace Elliot bag that I use for just the stuff, and then the tribal planet or other guitar only gig bags because they are easier to haul around. |

For the "stuff", think rolling duffels or gymbags. Patagonia makes stuff that might work, so does Dakota or Tumi, there are a whole bunch of manufacturers and range of styles. Look at luggage and sporting good stores. The musician stores will rip you off, but'll give you ideas. I think Planet Waves makes a small bag that would work, and possibly musicians friend. Once you get the ideas from there hit the stores. |

I just got one not to long ago (from GC) GigSkinz
Probably not as nice as the Access, but a little better suited to my particular needs. I don't carry a lot of small things since all my pedals are on a board in a seperate case, and the main compartment of my bag just needs t'hold a 5" binder(FakeBook/Bible) and a compartmented fishing tackle tray w/hinged lid for all my small ancillary stuff (pix/strings/capos/flashlight/reading glasses).
GigSkins had a DJ bag that suited me perfectly.
The main compartment was bisected exACTly the way I needed it. Like it was custom. The outside pockets hold all my straps/cables. Got BackPackStraps, too . . . I forget which model it is.
That Access looks like a REAL nice one!! |

| I just ordered one of Temp's. I will report back about the quality and general service and hound him mercilessly through the courts if anything is left than perfect.
The downside of buying from him is that from where he lives the package has to travel by mule train, canoe, ferry and three days on a wagon trail before it reaches anywhere civilized enough to have a post office. Only then does it begin its long journey south. |

Location: North Carolina | One of those little wheeled overhead compartment canvas suitcases you get at Walmart for $20-30. All those damn cords and things get pretty heavy, plus you can unzip the whole top for easy access. End of the nigh,you toss it all in and get out. Sort it all the nest day and wrap it pretty for the next gig. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | For those of us lucky enough to have picked up the OFC guitar, Al tossed in one of Temp's Access bags as part of the deal. Very nice. I packed it up solid and have been using it for 9 months straight, twice a week. However, within the past few weeks, I have tried to pack everything I need each week into the Tribal Plant guitar case (also Temp's) and keep from carrying one extra bag. I'm trying to cut down on the gear. I still end up with a guitar case, the AAD amp in its carrying case, an aluminum case for the pedal board, and a briefcase of music. Next, I'll try a rolling equipment bag. |
