Location: NY | Hi Folks, I recently obtained a friend for my CC-057 Celebrity, a CC-045 (i.e., 12-string) in excellent condition. Very satisfied with both guitars, which are typically played while sitting - but, I now have a need to play while standing and have come to realize that both of them appear to have standard strap buttons. So, my Schaller straps with Schaller locks are incompatible. I recall reading on this board that Dunlop-compatible strap buttons were standard on Ovations at some point - guess that was after the timeframe for these guitars. Would installation of a Schaller (or other system) strap button be as straightforward as unscrewing the current buttons and replacing them with new ones? Assuming I try to match lengths of screws, etc. - wader |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | IIRC, going from Dunlop to Schaller pins is OK but you may have to pack out the screw holes as the Dunlop screws are a heavier gauge.
But, you don't have Dunlop pins, just the generic ones. Shouldn't be a problem at all.
I suggest you unscrew one of the pins and take the screw down to the local guitar shop and compare it with the screws in a Schaller straplock system. Or, use the original screws with a Schaller pin.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Ovation straps are held on with Bolts (not screws) that go through "mollies" in the bowl.
So you need bolts the same diameter that have the same thread as the originals.
You could remove the strap bolts to see if they will fit your Schaller strap-lock buttons.
Ovation used Dunlop strap-loc buttons on the USA Ovations. (and probably on the AX/TX)
You could contact the Ovation factory and ask for the strap bolts.
The strap bolt for the regular buttons will no fit in the Dunlop strap buttons.
But the MotherShip has bolts that will fit... You could email them at askus@ovationguitars.com
Or you could call them... Search for Ovation Guitar, New Hartford, CT to find their phone number.
But first, just see if the current bolts will fit Schaller buttons.

Location: Utah | I just end up with a new strap for each guitar. If your guitar has Dunlop sized bolts, and if the Shallers don't fit, I would just install a Dunlop strap lock system and buy a dedicated strap for that guitar. |

Location: Always beautiful canyon country of Utah | Just use a pitch gauge and determine which bolts you have/need and it all becomes very simple. |

Location: Upper Left USA | I have taken out the original screws, placed them in a hand drill and turned/filed down the screw head until it fit into the Dunlop straploc. |
