Joined: August 2009 Posts: 120 Location: Miami | This is clearly subjective, but to me, the song isn't too hot and Jimmy Page's soloing seems all over the place, kind of rambling. It reminds me of jams I've had where someone plays a meandering solo that never falls into any kind of groove or hits the spot. I'm a big Jimmy Page fan, but this clip indicates that the flopped solo can happen to anyone. | ||

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 6994 Location: Jet City | Flopped solo? I'd bet dollars to donuts he's loaded outta his mind there. Sounds like it anyway. Not his typical genius stuff. Somewhat off-topic, a few months back Guitar World did an article titled 'top 50' or 'top 100' Zeppelin songs or something like that. I found it amusing because really they did 9 or 10 studio albums so that's gonna cover most their stuff. That said, every song mentioned was quite awesome. I usually don't dig on 'lists', but I went though this one cuz the dude had an obscure tune as his #1, and it just so happens to be my fav Zep tune too, 'Achilles Last Stand' (off my fav album 'Presence'). Yeah, just listened to it again. I'd venture to say this clip is one of the worst I've ever heard from him. | ||
