What is the difference between the 1778LX and the 6778LX? They look very much like the same guitar. Thanks

Looks like the 1778LX has an ebony fingerboard and the 6778LX uses Rosewood. I don't see any other differences.

The 6778 seems to a "Standard" model with A grade Spruce vs. AA on the 1778, also Chrome Tuners vs. Gold, OP-Pros Studio in the 1778 etc ...

They should be the same guitar structurally and sonically, just different bling.

I've got a 6778LX which only has bass side epaulets, which was a one year limited run in the Vintage Natural. There isn't a 1778LX version of this one afaik. There may be a few other oddball configurations, but I believe it is primarily a bling/visual difference between the two models. Different years may have had different preamps as the factory released new versions, e.g. Studio vs regular OpPro.

fretboard (and TRC cover), top grade, inlays, color of hardware... that's about it.

I personally don't like the feel of Ovation's rosewood fretboards. Ebony is a must for me.

According to the MFSRP list on Ovation website, 6778LX was "Standard Elite " produced in 2004 only at $1212 list price. 1778LX was produced in multiple years starting in 2004 with price of $1499 in 2004, so there should be way more 1778s out there.

Interesting to see a "New" 6778 on ebay:

My 6778LX has inlaid epaulets. Does the 1778LX have them as well, or glued-on?
