Location: Nashville, TN........Where the BEST guitars are! | I have a 1997 Model 1861 Standard Balladeer, the super slim body. Cherry Sunburst. OP-40 Pre-Amp. NOT A SCRATCH ON IT!!!
I can play this guitar for hours using medium stings, GHS on it right now, and it doesn't feel like I even picked up a guitar. The slim body is great; Experimenting with strings. So far, my favorite set has been Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Light Acoustic Strings. Still looking; any suggestions?
I am also curious what the street value of this guitar is. It is not an Applause or Celebrity; it was made in Hartford, Connecticut. You can buy the EXACT version, made in China for $699.99 (lists at $999.99).
The value chart put it at $1049. The MSRP was $2400, without the case. I have the Original hard case.
IMHO, I would think the guitar, with case, should be worth TWICE that. (The $1049 the value chart lists).
Anyoneone know what condition they consider in that chart?

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | Oh dear... Its soooo easy I don't know why people find it so difficult.
OK..., first of all, make sure you've clicked on the 'reply' button, not just in the quick reply box. You'll know if you're in the right place because you'll see all the text editing features (font, paragraph, bold, italic, underlined etc...)
I usually have a second tab open with the gallery, or some photo source, click on a thumbnail to open the photo, and right click and select "copy image location" (well, that's what it says on a Mac, if you use a PC then you deserve to be punished further....)
(depending on the webpage you're viewing, sometimes you can right click and select 'show image'. Then you just copy the URL in the address bar...)
Go back to the page with the full reply box open, click on the icon that looks like a tree, paste the url in the box that says "Image URL" and click "Insert"....
If you want to insert more photos, click the enter key twice to put some white space between the photos.
There are a few different ways to do it, this is my method and it works for me... |

As for the value of an 1861, well, they go pretty cheap on the streets. I don't want to burst your bubble, but I have a USA model mid bowl 1771LX with a newer (and better) preamp and upgraded with new bracing, neck joint, etc. I bought it for less than $500. If you're looking to sell yours for $1000, you might find it difficult. If you're looking to insure it, a new USA one would now be a custom order and probably cost $3k |

Location: Nashville, TN........Where the BEST guitars are! | I'd sooner part with my wife than sell this guitar! nice guitar, but nothing spectacular..........unless you are me. Have you ever owned a guitar that felt like the factory made it specifically for you? ( I know how Les Paul must have felt!! lol) I have played more than my share of the model 1861's; both US and foreign. The US made wins in ALL categories. But even the US's I played did not have that particular feel this guitar has. Personal preference thing......I just got lucky. The only guitar i have played that felt better was a Martin. I think it was a D-28.
So Damon; thanks. Insurance is exactly what I am pursuing. Any idea where I could get an estimate, or something legal, that supports that figure? Appreciate the help.
I give up trying to post pics. Muzza, people complain? I have tried every method possible based on your instructions. I use Google Chrome. Is the possible a compatibility issue? Appreciate your help too tho bro! I think I'm just going to build a web page and post the link!
