I have the Custom Elite C2078LX and I love the acoustic tone... though I do think it sounds better now than when I bought it new a few years back. It's by far the go to when I gig these days. But my 2080 is coming home from Mother this week! It'll be getting equal time (If not more). If you could get past your center hole and Adamas hang-ups, the 2080 would blow you away. Acoustically, I still prefer the sound of the 1581 over all others I've had. I'd love to play with one of the newer 1581ish ones with the OpPro and a contour.

Maybe i'll do later... =) About O's - 2077LX has a AA-spruce top but not AAA (like on 2079LX). Do you think that it's just a marketing ? =) And what is better for acoustic: 1769-ADII or 2079LX ? What do you think ? You have many O's and your opinion is very important for me. Thanks!

It has a deep contour bowl so not sure if that is something you care for or prefer a different type of bowl though.

My N769 with a-bracing sounds very good to me, but I let the other people in the room be the judges of the sound. So far I have had unsolicited remarks of how good it sounds, so I'm confident when I play it. The N769 has an AAAA spruce top. Not sure if that has anything to do with the sound or not. I just like it!

I'm all abut the contour bowl these days. It works better for me standing and sitting. Sound wise, it's going to be a personal thing. I've always loved A-braced Legends (The ADII is A-braced), but for some reason, these newer A-braced ADII guitars just don't have the same sound as the old Legends do. You can't go wrong with either. Maybe you should just get both!

I couldn't find anywhere comfortable to put that damn ridge. What's your secret? (Other than gaining 20lb)

Perhaps you can connect with Roman (he has been here on the site many times and is a very nice and humble person) and speak with him? He can probably give you better advice for your situation that just about anyone else who visits here.

My old 1617 is second loudest with my 07C and C2078 tied for 3rd. For pure acoustic pop, you can't miss with an old legend if you want single sound hole. Inexpensive with a perfect neck, booming bass and great response. Although the cheapest of all my O's, maybe the easiest playing and sounds really nice! If you want unplugged sound, don't worry about modern pre-amp, even the old ones are good...

To buy old guitar on Ebay is not very easy, Shipping is very difficult ("We don't ship to Rusian Fderation!" There are many good opinion replys about 2079LX here: http://www.ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=28... Owners wrote that it's acoustic sound is very good. Is it true ? =)

(Other than gaining 20lb) I can't speak for Damon, but my secret for standing with the contour bowls was to move the strap button to the underside of the treble bout. Once I did this, the guitar is as comfortable and stable as any flat-back guitar.

Aosha, I've never had a 2079 side by side with an ADII, so I can't be sure, but my C2078 is louder than the AD to my ear. I'm actually considering selling the Al DiMeola becuase I bought it to play live, but I'm using my C2079 where I was using the AD before. I've also considered trading it for a C2079LX. If it were me, I'd pick the LX over the AD. Edited by Damon67 2013-01-10 2:40 AM
