When I play and sing at home (and record it) I do not sound flat when singing.
I'm not much of a vocalist but occasionally like to sing when playing my guitar.
When I sing karaoke at the local bar, I sound flat. Too much beer??? |

Location: Flahdaw | Try singing at the bar with ONE foam earplug in.
In the meantime, post a recording of you singing and we'll tell you if you're flat or not. (nicely, of course)

Location: Minnesota | I will try the earplug idea. And your right, parts of the song sounded ok to me when I was belting it out, but sounded flat when I was singing softer.
I don't know if I want to embarrass myself by posting a recording yet. I can't even post a picture on this site. {have yet to figure out how}

Location: Spain | In my VERY limited karaoke experience I think what happens is the key of the song is different to that which you're used to singing yourself. It's the same as when my mate wants to sing "Don't look back in anger" by Oasis with me...I play it in a lower key (A) than the original C, (and he sings in original key of C) so when he sings with me he sounds flat as hell... .... so if you're into the karaoke it might be an idea to find your key and ask them if they can set it for you
Hope that helps? |

Plenty of us have already embarrassed ourselves posting our stuff here. Don't be intimidated by the pros. Most of us are just in it for fun even if we secretly wish we could have been rock stars. |
