After reading the "Favorite Pick?" thread, I began wondering what materials ya'll have used to get by or experimented with.

I'm currently prepping a couple of coconut shells to experiment with. Yes, they'll be stiff but durable and quite attractive. I also hope to make a TRC for my ol' late '60s electric double-pup Lyle.

The plastic closure off the bread bag has been put into service a time or two.

Have never tried to actually make a pick.

Folded matchbook covers have worked for a short song...
Back when matches were free...

Old credit cards come to mind...

(chuckle) When stationed in Idaho, I had a neighbor that used a credit card as a toothpick, guitar pick and windshield scraper. ;)

I tried those pseudo cards that show up in the mail. "Ferget 'bout it"! :D

Mountain Home Air Force Base, perchance? That and Garden City are the two most inappropriately named towns in Idaho.

Just went over to show Gway my CA yesterday and he complained that I didn't bring a pick. Found a plastic knife, broke the tip off and handed it to him. He seemed happy....

Yepper, seven memorable years in the late '70s/early '80s. Made some life-long friends that are still in town.

I'll never forget the disappointment as I first pulled into MH. I had pictured hills with a mountainous background, not the 'pool table flat' prairie!

Actually the original town of MH was at the base of the 'foothills' It was moved when the railroad was built.

You're right about the history. I moved here in 78 in large part because a buddy in law school had been stationed in MH and convinced me to check out Boise.

When I left Idaho 24 years ago, Boise was one of those 'comfortable' cities sitting in a lovely setting. I have heard that it has attracted too many 'left coasters' since then.

Match book covers, bread bag things, beer cap flattened with hammer (no good), 25 cent piece (no good) and piece of cardboard cut from beer case. There must have been other things but I can't remember..lol

Idaho? They run commercials out here asking us to come. I don't know of any takers yet, but you never know. Could happen. :p
They got trout there, don't they?

Most everything in Idaho is oriented to the right. Some of the prettiest country in the world up the Coldwater on the way to Montana from Oregon.

(Hi-jacking my own thread!) My neighbor that I mentioned above moved up to Eagle a couple of years before I left. We went up to visit several times. If I ever move away from my hometown and the waters here, that's where I'll head.

I love the independent spirit and love of neighbors out West! If ya want your space, ya got it. If ya need some support, ya got it. Just be prepared to show your own independence and willingness to help others upfront. Very fond memories out there!
