So I managed to luck into this beast thanks to a Stuart Miller post in the For Sale area. Checked with John at the mothership and this appears to be a custom order or a one-off of some type, definitely not a production model. Serial number dates back to 1995.

Anybody know anything about this? I'd love to know the story on this thing.. for all intents and purposes this seems to be an Adamas, but it's labeled as an Ovation Elite.

B5768 Elite 5-string bass. CVT carbon fibre top with gloss black-burst finish.
Deep bowl, ebony fingerboard, maple inlays, gold Schaller tuners, OP-X pre-amp

The bridge looks like it came in a natural color and somebody dyed it black. The bowl and the ivoroid binding have a couple of rough patches, but the top and neck are in great shape after a bit of cleanup. The action seems a bit high, so it may need a setup or a neck reset.

More pictures here for those of you who may be interested.

I am so chuffed this end up in the family. Was too unique an item to let slip by and to be honest a bargain price for what it is. Well done for acting on it and glad it met the expectations. Here's hoping we hear more about this one as well as hearing this one played!
