Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12761 Location: Boise, Idaho | Saw the movie "Once" with Netflix this weekend. Also saw an interview on the story of this guitar. He learned to play on his uncle's guitar, so his uncle bought him this beater and he used it when he was a street musician. He pulled it out for the movie. In the movie he says the song is in C, but he is actually tuned down a half step. It's a bit tough to pick up every note he's playing, since he looks like he's going from an Am to a G in the second verse, but the melody seems to stay with the Am. Vocals are pretty easy if you switch parts with the girl's part on the one high note. My falsetto doesn't work anymore, even with the half step lower tuning. | ||

I was fooling with the tune as well and the vocals are definitely a little more demanding than the music. Just another confirmation that it doesn't have to be tough to "work". | ||

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12761 Location: Boise, Idaho | I try to play electric guitar and admire several people that I consider to be good, but invariably, when I hear a song that I really like, such as Falling Slowly, it's got a vocal part that I can sort of sing along with and an acoustic guitar played fingerstyle. Maybe it's that I've lost patience for anything where I have to strain to grasp the lyrics or melody. | ||
