Thought this was the best version of a nice song that's got some well deserved publicity. Nice guitar too.

Love the 'extra' sound holes. Taks attempt at an Adamas configuration?

Interesting. I heard that on the way home Friday and learned to play it today. Need a little work on the chorus, but it's pretty easy. C and F for awhile.

Duplicating the guitar part is pretty easy, the vocals might take a little more work.

This kinda stuff pisses me off. I've got thousands invested in "studio gear" and I can't make it do squat. These guys stand outside with a freaking camcorder and it sounds great .... ARGGHHHH !!!!

That's the way it goes sometimes Tuppy.

That is also one of the problems with Cedar tops and no pickguard.

Vocals aren't really too hard. His range is about one note higher than mine, but the harmony works there just fine. I need a female singer. I'll get my daughter working on it.

Saw the movie "Once" with Netflix this weekend. Also saw an interview on the story of this guitar. He learned to play on his uncle's guitar, so his uncle bought him this beater and he used it when he was a street musician. He pulled it out for the movie.
In the movie he says the song is in C, but he is actually tuned down a half step. It's a bit tough to pick up every note he's playing, since he looks like he's going from an Am to a G in the second verse, but the melody seems to stay with the Am.
Vocals are pretty easy if you switch parts with the girl's part on the one high note. My falsetto doesn't work anymore, even with the half step lower tuning.

I caught it this past weekend too. I thought it was great to see a new story for a change and the music was a huge bonus. I was fooling with the tune as well and the vocals are definitely a little more demanding than the music. Just another confirmation that it doesn't have to be tough to "work".

I try to play electric guitar and admire several people that I consider to be good, but invariably, when I hear a song that I really like, such as Falling Slowly, it's got a vocal part that I can sort of sing along with and an acoustic guitar played fingerstyle. Maybe it's that I've lost patience for anything where I have to strain to grasp the lyrics or melody.
