I bought a 12-string for my solo gig. Give me some "great" tunes that work well for 12-string. Hotel CA, Tom Petty are the ones that pop out so far.

Supertramp had quite a few good 12 string tunes.

Wish you were here (Pink Floyd) works well with a 12 string - although I don't think Pink Floyd used a 12 string.

Yes, Gilmour used a 12 string on the original recording. For the '77 tour (I was there) Gilmour played a Strat, and Snowy White played a 12 string... And it was an Ovation!

Good 12 string songs that come to mind...
As The Raven Flies - Fogelberg
Part Of The Plan - Fogelberg
Sister Moonshine - Supertramp

Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi sounds good on a 12 string. A stripped back version of Springsteen's Born to Run sounds pretty good too.

Depends on if you don't mind a little "interpretation". For older, classic songs, these are nice for 12ers....
Sweet Melissa
Desperado
Raining On Sunday
Ventura Highway
Tequila Sunrise
The Reach

I appreciate it. I had a 12 about 25 years ago and it was a POS. Kinda scared me off them. I like the Takamine. Seems I gravitate to KMC. I've had 6 Takamine's. Mine are Kaman. Old school. If you think of any more post 'em. I ain't got nothin' better to do.

try that Edmund Fitzgerald...

could raise a few goosebumps...

what would you use as a lead-in song to bring your audience down and receptive to the haunting story being told?

I usually do something faster before I do something like "TWOTEF". "I Got A Name" by Jim Croce would probably be what I would play if I already had the 12 on. If not "Black Water" by the Doobie Bros.

In case you're wondering. The crowd generally helps me out on "Black Water" during the round.

I get more requests for Lightfoot's "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" than any other song I play. "Sundown" is in the top ten.
