Joined: November 2008 Posts: 400 Location: Northwest Arkansas | I have literally played guitars with every OP-*** pop-in preamp. I've come to a conclusion. Its the OP-Pro. It makes every guitar I own sound better. There are 6 more I have that aren't listed. The battery lasts longer in it than any other preamp I have. It also has a very balanced sound when it's EQ'd flat. So I bought another one Saturday morning. What's your favorite and why? I was going to say pop-in, but there are a lot of others, FET, OP24...

OP-30 sounds thin by comparison in the same model, and the VIP and OP-PRO Studio caused a lot more feedback in two different PA's I tried, and neither had the same trademark tone as the OP-PRO. (Can't speak for studio work, I'm talking about amplified through a PA only). (And of course, YMMV.) Edited by Jukebox Joe 2012-10-22 8:26 AM

The next one. Hopefully it has a tuner that is at least as accurate as the one in my iPhone.

Most likely the Optima as stated above. In all seriousness, it's my favorite too. I have them in my Al DiMeola, and Book Elite. I also liked the OP50 (after Optima, and prior to the OpPro), but I no longer own a guitar with one of those. The OpPro is awesome too.

Any ideas? Contact Al at Lost Art Vintage Guitars. He was able to order one NIB for my 2078TX. Edited by DanSavage 2012-10-24 8:15 PM
