Location: Utah | The title explains it. Will Mother repair a broken off ear if the ear is missing? This is a Breadwinner/Deacon. Can just a neck be sent to them rather than the whole guitar? I am eying a potential project guitar on the fleabay. The neck will need a refret and the whole guitar a refinishing in a very slightly pink shade of white for Sara. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | Repairing a broken ear is a labour of love - a lot of work to get it right if you don't have the missing piece. Our Wizz in Australia fixed the ear on my Adamas 1685 and people never see that it was repaired unless I point it out to them. |

Definitely no guitar for the cabinet, maybe an excellent player nevertheless! I own a Breadwinner myself and I wouldn't give it away, though it isn't easy to adjust string height, it sounds very unique and provides a huge variety of great sounds. |

Location: Utah | Frank, thanks for the input. That is the guitar I am looking at, as long as the price stays fairly low. Recently they have been going pretty high. I am not concerned with the $ being logical, only that it be affordable in my budget. Prices have been high enough recently to not make this a logical project! My daughter already has a very nice Preacher Deluxe, and she has gas to add a Deacon or Breadwinner. I want to surprise her with a personalized guitar. I don't mind some minor repairs would be hidden under the new paint, and I don't mind refretting it. Probably I will go with premium P90 single coil pickups or something similar. New 18:1 locking tuners. No need for the active electronics. The trick is to find a guitar with a good basic neck (good fretboard, straight neck, good binding) but enough cosmetic issues to make the initial purchase cheap enough.
Sara is a true Ovation fan. Her next tattoo is already planned to be some version of the Adamas epaulet wing. |
