I came across an 1867 Legend with an OP-40 and a natural finish on Craigslist that was described as "like new" for $500. The problem was the seller lived in VA and I'm in NJ and he didn't want to ship it. I was considering the 4 hour drive, but I finally convinced him to ship it. Great guy!

The history of the guitar is that the seller "found it by accident in a huge music distribution center in Spokane - when they re-inventoried, they discovered it off-inventory in the acoustic storage room." He then kept it as a backup to his Legend that he frequently played live.

The guitar arrived this week. I did what I usually do and field-stripped the guitar, cleaned everything, and reassembled it. The guitar is in excellent+ condition. I had to install a new clip to hold the wires inside the guitar since the old one had come detached. One odd thing is the serial number is very hard to read; the first couple digits aren't really visible. But other than that, the guitar is like new. The top of the guitar is perfect without a blemish.

Anyway, it's a lovely guitar. I also have an 1869 that Noah and Randy owned that has an OP-50 and a factory-upgraded carved bridge, which is an incredible guitar - but I keep that in Robert Fripp's New Standard Tuning. The 1867 I'm keeping in Old Standard Tuning. This way I can switch between the two guitars depending on what I'm playing, but with the same comfort and feel of a SSB guitar.

Very cool.
Now you've got me looking into the NST... so I can justify having more guitars!
