Hi Folks:

I was annoyed by the pick scratches on both the pawnshop CS257 and the awesome Q597 so I purchased a bottle of swirl remover polish from the auto parts store...

Here are photos of the process...

https://picasaweb.google.com/112515870494292426674/RemovePickScratch...

Results... well... not the perfect perfect wet-look I wanted...

Anybody tried a re-spray with clear gloss?

Don't worry - the CS was sacrificial ahead of doing the Q.

Carl

Maybe I cannot see the little scratches that bug you...
But those photos were very educational.
I may have to do that some day.
(Get the buffing wheel and do it right)

Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0 works real well for taking out deep scratches. I did it to a GC 057 that had bad scratches on it when I got it off eBay. Used that stuff and you can comb your hair in it. It also shines the guitar. It has a mirror finish. I used it on my 6 year old Adamas W597 and it got all but a very few of the scratches. It shined it up real well too. I've taken a few of the pick scratches off a few of my other guitars. It works very well.

Carl nice job. May I ask what kind of blu-tape are you using there ?

The tape is Scotch... I am aware that Scotch sells at least two versions of that tape - sticky and not so sticky... this roll is the super-sticky version and I believe it needs to be that version to stick to the oily wood of the bridge and epaulets and withstand abuse by the rotating foam wheel.

I added a couple more pics of the finished product - I am less critical today than yesterday... looks pretty good.

For what we can see from the pics, the guitar looks very nice. Well done Carl.
