Hi everyone. I just found this site and am happy to see so many fellow Ovation enthusiasts. I’ll be dropping by and reading a lot of the posts. There are many things here to learn from what I’ve seen so far. Thanks to the staff for providing this fantastic site…

I do have a question. I was trying to find out what the last year was the Ovation line was made in the USA. I understand the Adamas line is still made here, but was curious when the last USA Ovation models were made.

Thanks and best wishes…

Dan

I thought someone else would know more specific, but it's not as straight forward an answer as you might think. Technically, you can get any model made in Connecticut as a custom order. But the actual full production lines of Ovation in CT ended a few years ago. They started to dial back the actual production lines not too long after Fender came into the picture. Of course Adamas guitars are still made in Connecticut as you noted.

I'd rather phrase it as... They can still make ALL models in Connecticut, you just have to place an order. While many seem to focus on the fact that the production lines are now overseas, I think this is THE BEST TIME IN HISTORY to purchase a NEW, USA MADE Ovation as you can buy almost ANY model you want, configured almost any way you want, without being limited to what's in the Catalog of a particular year. I think that's pretty cool.

Just to clarify something, there are no 'staff' here - just enthusiasts.

This site has no affiliation with Ovation, Kaman or Fender.

But you are correct in that its a fantastic site.

Technically, there is still one model still being produced in New Hartford, the AlDiMeola Custom Legend. I wouldn't know when the last production Elite or Legend rolled out... more than a year, less than 3

By "staff" I meant those folks in the background that make it all happen... ?

Thanks, I noticed the disclaimer when I log in that there is no affiliation with Kaman and such… Just a lot of folks with a common interest…

I was actually curious about the specific model I have, the 1868 Elite T. Mine was made in 2003. That model is still made in Korea, as the 1868 Elite TX. Of course, it’s half price as the USA models. I was wondering when that model went overseas and what the difference is now that makes them so much cheaper?

Thanks for your reply,

Danny D

The last of the Elite T's were made in New Hartford in 2008.
That was when I originally got my Sweet T... Also a 2058T.

Back then the manufacture of Elites and Balladeers was moved to Korea.
Ovation was already making the Ultra series in Korea.
That run of Ultras were made in Korea then sent to New Hartford for "Final Assembly".
I am guessing that Fender did not see any reason to do any of that work in the USA.
Eventually Fender also moved the Legend manufacture to Korea.
Now they only make Al DiMeola Legends and Adamas in the USA and you must order them.

The reason why the TX and AX are half the price is because they are basically Ultra guitars without the trip to the Mothership.
