Wuz just in there and they have a pretty nice black UKII for sale in the used section for $499. It's got all 4 original knobs, the pickguard is on it, and the gold is still pretty shiny. Didn't play it. but the back of the neck looks pretty clean too. Dunno about the case.

Just an FYI.

With the pickguard... that is a find I hope someone here jumps on. I wish I could.

Just got back in town. Sounds like what I've been looking for. Looked on their website but didn't see it. Someone must have gotten it ... maybe next time!

I bought mine in '82. I've had more than 50 electric guitars over the years, that's the one I always go back to.... as a matter of fact, I have 2 now!

CKKeller, about the black UKII ... what about scratches, dings, etc? I'm thinking seriously about it. Just got back from the guitar show in Charlotte, NC and was dissappointed in the Ovation offerings.

If you really want a UK2 why not work a deal with Vadim.

He has that really awesome black one made out of urelite.
If I was in the market for one that one would be a no brainier.

probably on my mind because I prefer the versatility of the Viper3 over the UK2 but they are heavy.
A urelite Viper3 would be an extremely cool axe to have when it would weigh so much less than a regular one.

The Vadim's guitar is excellent. The UKII that is in the GS is a real find at that price. Finding one with a pickguard and bowtie inlays... that's an early run.

No offense on the V3, but I had a chance at that thing. Mr. O will attest, I put both it and the wood-topped UKII through the paces.

For what I do, the UKII won out.... and I already have one! This one belonged to Beal though, and it has a different feel to it than mine. Mine's set up to shred with very low action. The wood topped has a higher slot cut in the brass nut. I can only assume it's Beal's own spec as he likes to play slide a bunch. It's great for slide, with action still good enough to do just about anything else I need.

You can see that Ozzy tune I do on my old UKII, it's much easier doing the slide part now on the wood-topped.

I didn't handle it to look for dings, but judging b y the overall appearance, I would be surprised if it has any big boo boo marks. It looks like its only been gigged very slightly, if all. Very clean.

Bought it. But there is still a brown burst (later model) available. Hope it gets out of there before the storm closes down UPS.

The UKII just arrived ... and it is a beauty. The only issues were the plastic surround of the neck pickup and the plastic cover on the bridge are both a little faded. Wondering if a liquid polish of some kind might bring out the black luster. If not, no biggie.

Also, here's a picture of its brother I got back in March ... another fine specimen.

Definitely let us know about the Mother's Back to Black results on the surround. Don't know what it is about the plastic they used, but it's rare to see an actual still-black surround these days on a UKII.

Tried the Mothers' on the bridge piece. Did the left half only (for now) so we could compare before (on the right) and after (on the left). Looking pretty good. Very close to the bridge pickup surround color. Even though it's gonna be a bear, I can't wait to do the neck pickup surround. What you guys (and ladies) think?

I'll see if the picture posts, if not click on the link ...
