Location: Bristol England | I have recently purchased one of the above guitars but can't find out much about it. It is quilt blue with a slim/superslim body, gold coloured machine heads with pearlised tuners and an OP 24+ pre amp. - Made in Korea - serial number - on paper in the body :- 1110320.
It does not appear to have a truss rod - aluminium fret board??
Ther is so little info I contacted Ovation about it thinking it may be a fake but they say it is genuine even though it is not listed anywhere on their web site.
Any info re this model would be much appreciated.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Hi James... The truss-rod is adjusted from Inside the bowl.
Here is a PDF of an Ovation Manual
Pages 17 thru 21 talk about this.
Here is a How-To YouTube video for adjust the Truss Rod
That gets to Elite-style guitars at about 6:15.
You will want a Long 3/16" Allen Wrench.
Maybe the CP257's were mostly sold in Asia?
Cuz most of the links I found have illegible hieroglyphics for text.
Hope that helps.
And Welcome James... Someone in authority will come-along and update your membership eventually.

Location: Bristol England | Hi O.M.Arthur,
Many thanks for the reply which has said it all. I have the same thoughts as you regarding it being mostly marketed in Asia but can't understand why it's not registered on their web site unless they are ashamed of it and want it 'swept under the carpet'.If so this is a mistaken opinion! It sounds O.K. unplugged (what do you expect from a super-shallow bowl?) But amped up it can match some of the best of them. I am more than pleased with it.
Regarding the truss rod - Oh dear - what can I say. The blindingly obvious is staring you in the face when you ask the question :- "What's that big round plate on the back of the bowl for?? DOH! Once again many thanks.
James......(Probably older than you.) |
