Those are nice instruments. I've had one and swapped it for a VXT-D(elux) model. They are sounding even better to me, more bright and sustain. I really love mine.

I love mine, too. It was, I believe, only the second custom-spec VXT made by the factory (thanks again, Al), the first having gone to Beal. I can live with that.

Bernie's guitar, with an EA-68 bridge, was the direction I'd hoped they'd take the Viper. Just me.
That wooden string thru body bridge died too quick of a death, IMO. Tone & sustain for days. Was... and still is a great idea from the days of Beal. Coupled with the humbuckers, little a guitar like this couldn't do for a working musician.

I've also done some "customisation" on mine: First I swapped the crapy Ping tuners for Schaller Vintage with 1:16 ratio and spent them a set of ebony buttons, then I changed the TRC and the knobs in real ebony ones. In my opinion the cheap "goldish" knobs didn't match the look of the chrome pups and machines and the worthy look of the guitar.

Hey Bernie, is the only difference between the vxt and the vxt-d the pickups? And before someone says UTFSB, yes I'm a lazy bastard.

LOL!!!
Well, I think they made three series of VXT's, but I havn't all specs exately in my mind.
The difference of the VXT and VXT-Deluxe is the top: VXT= spruce, VXT-D= maple, the rest is similar (I think).
The third ones are the VXT-S, they have the textured painted bodies and other pickups. If I remember right Seymour-Duncan SP90. VXT and VXT-D Seymour-Duncan '59.
