Even back in 1968 when I first heard "The Pusher", the novelty wore-off before the song was over.
After hearing C-Lo just now... I like the "Forget You" version better.
(that seems more clever, y'know?)

And while we are on the subject, maybe we can learn a lesson from some 8 year-old kids

I had heard of Cee Lo since he sang in the Gnarls Barkley formula. Great voice, great song. I definitely like the F you song - verses are nice (who knows what an Atari is any more!), music is great. As for the chorus, i'm not bothered by it, being foul-mouthed myself... also, don't think it's meant to be the shock that Steppenwolf intended. The chorus to this song is something used by some on a daily basis to express... anger as well as delight ).
...Still, OMA is right, never thought of it, Forger You seems indeed cleverer

I think Cee Lo did a disservice to John Lennon when he changed 'Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too,' to 'And all religion's true'. I have forgotten the show where this took place. What a horrible thought.

I enjoy the "Forget You" version, but I've not purchased it. Most of the men in my family were steel workers, so I grew up hearing the "f" word a lot. Despite this, I'm still put off by it. I know many enjoy the word's linguistic versatility, but I say it's over-used. I am, however, guilty of harboring a fondness for Harry Nilsson's 'You're Breaking My Heart' which employs the same phrase, but I've loved Harry Nilsson practically from the womb, so there's a nostalgia aspect, and Harry's song is just more humorous all 'round.

I have enjoyed Cee Lo as a coach on 'The Voice'.

Edit to add a link to Harry's song, in case any are interested in hearing it.

I love that song, The forget you version is easier to listen to you in public but the guy has a great unique voice like Macy Grey
