I found a screamin' deal this weekend on a Carvin DC400T Blue Burst. It needs some work, but I'm up for the task.

I have the opportunity to pick up a monster amp as I think I want to start giggin again. I have a chance at (yeah, I know another Carvin) a Carvin X100B 100w tube amp. It has 2 channels, effects loop, switchable from 100 to 50 to 25 watts, switchable from 4, 8, and 16 ohms, 5-band EQ, active controls.

Footswitch included. Carvin 4x12 cab included.

$500?

Anyone ever try the amp out? I know I should probably go to Harmony Central Forums for amps or something, but I dislike that board. Thought I'd try here first.

New Guitar (well new to me)...

Here's the amp...

If it preforms as well as it looks it should be a keeper. Enjoy!!

That guitar is in one of my favorite colors and one of the guitars on my "I'll get one some day" list...

As far as the amp, I have not played that one, but I'm a big fan of Carvin gear in general. It's reliable and built like a tank. I have the Anniversary head they came out with a bunch of years back, the MTS 3200. It can handle EL34's, 6L6's or 5881's just like the X100B. I have EL84's in mine with a Carvin 4 x 12 slant front cabinet.

The X100B was a staple in the 80's for the tone fanatics like Zappa, Vai and many others.

I think it's pretty safe to say that if you can't get the tone you want out of an X100B, your going to have to hire someone to build you an amp for what you want.

Besides the flexiblity of the amps themselves, plugging into different cabinets is like getting a whole new amp.

Miles,

I'll bring them both in July :D

I wasn't too far from your place today. I went to Marysville, brought the V, and
plugged into this thing. Man. I could play a a stadium with this thing, and the
different sounds, wow. The clean channel kicked ass too. I could only bear a minute
or two at 100w, then I turned down to 50, then to 25.

It's like 3 different amps! I'm gonna have to invest in some different cabs now.

This is the exact head and cab. And it's in great condition too.

What Miles said. I have the amp, and it's awesome. The guitar's on my list, too.

It's a good amp, no worries about if its "nice" enough if you buy it. Get it and don't look back.

Wow Max. The entire town of Enid must hear you when you plug in.

I'm not sure what my intentions are yet with the guitar. Haven't played it. It was just a shame to see someone not caring for it like they should. All the parts are on the way to get it back to excellent condition.
