Clarke's First Law: When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.

I've spent my entire career as a scientist living by those words. He was one of my all-time favorite writers. A true visionary, a unique mind who will be sorely missed.

I just watched 2001 a couple of nights ago. He's one of my favorites as well. RIP.

I wasn't a fan of his writing especially, but I truly admire his intellect and his stance on belief systems.

He made many young minds think differently. No doubt. Like so many of these guy's it is impossible to know the amazing ripple effect he has had on the human intellect and our world. There are generations of brilliant scientists who were once young readers of guy's like Clark and their thought provoking work.

I was one of them........ A reader.......... not the genius thing.

A true visionary! I'm just glad he lived long enough to see many of his visions become reality.

He was a major influence in my curiosity and willingness to 'explore'.

RIP Dr. Clarke...

fiction writer or visionary?

Both in my opinion...perhaps the nature of his occupation.

He certainly stirred my thoughts on many things...and will be long remembered.

I've had conversations like that with my wife. Damn I hate those.
