This was listed on the bay as mint condition, which it is not, but it is in excellent condition and is a real dazzler. A wierd thing happened though; when I received the guitar the strings were dead and the guitar was pretty dirty, so I cleaned and oiled the fretboard, polished the guitar, installed a new battery, and strung it up with a set of Martin SP lights. It still sounded pretty dull, hmmm? Last night I left it on the stand in the spare bedroom, which has a humidifier, and this morning it sounds AMAZING! I don't know that I've ever experienced this before. I'm not sure if the strings needed to stretch, if the guitar needed moisture, or if bourbon makes a guitar sound bad. 1979 - 1619 Custom Legend

If so, lucky you rescued it before the top started showing lacquer cracks or worse. Try to keep it in that 45-60% humidity range with 65-75 temp and it will sound great and last forever.

George Frey - 2012-03-07 11:56 AM Have a couple bourbons later...just to double check the sound! Okay, but only because you asked me to. stephent28 - 2012-03-07 1:15 PM Probably really dry. In this part of Texas 20% humidity is common and even with a humidifier running I'm lucky to get it around 40%. Most of my guitars live in the case with an Oasis humidifier and I refill them every two weeks. It's a pain, but it has payed off so far.

In about a week that guitar sang again. I won't do it during the winter, buy boy did it make a difference. I've got my cedar top "new" Celebrity sitting out now. Our house is nice and humid. The guitar already sounds better.

When I first saw the TRC, I really thought it had to be molded plastic. The carving was just TOO good. Then, I pulled it off to adjust the neck and yup, it's real wood. On the back of the TRC it's stamped "Inspected by #80." Alison, were you #80?
