Iconic Yngwie trashes familiar sounds in this hysterical (IMO) article. Dont agree with everything he says but you could totally see him saying this stuff. I bet he lost some friend the day this went to print. Not a huge fan of his music but gotta respect his chops.

I know the entire interview, especially the part in which he insults Nirvana and all the dumb people who listened them...and I agree with him 95%.

Yngwie's an a$$. He's very talented, if you like neo-classical shredding.

He pretty much hated everything except John Pettruci of Dream Theater (and he said his tone sucked). He likes what he does and thinks that anything other that that has no validity.

And trashing "Cause We've Ended as Lover's" by Jeff Beck? Oh puleeze!

Actually I met Yngwie and all I can say is that he said at that time he was very competitive and aggressive, however he's a good friend of Satriani and Vai, he played with them in the G3, he's a fan of Rush and Scorpions and he had good words for Johnson.

Anyway he's right, Petrucci's tone sucks!

I know. He is an *** but damn, when he starts talking theory and jammin I'm in awe. I can't seem to connect to most of his stuff. After about 5 minutes Ijust get overwhelmed, sensory overload.

So Yngwie was part of G3. He fit the bill very well. But you don't hear Satch or Vai trashing other guitarists. He's just too full of himself. A little humility goes a long way.

There are plenty of other more versatile shredders that will leave you in awe and overload you with theory but are still plenty humble, like Paul Gilbert.

Oh man, just discovered Gilbert like 1 yr ago (just got outta my closet) and he is unreal and seems so down to earth. I would love to go to one of his clinics. He seems so down to earth and makes complicated stuff so accessible.

Take into account that Gilbert made a song called "Ripping off Yngwie".

Just sayin'
