Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Yes I know how to search. I have read some posts... But I was looking for a fresher review.
I have been looking to get an SSB cuz I don't have one.
I also have been looking for any USA T's that I could afford.
So I stumbled upon an 1868T, which is BOTH. An SSB and a USA T at the same time.
So now I am waiting for it to arrive... So help me torment myself while I wait.
 
So anybody with tantalizing stories about your SSB T, Please share them! :/ |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Some have said that the SSB doesn't project as well. I think that's subjective. I have seen some well played SSB's that talk.
If you are plugging it in, I think SSB is the way to go. They sound great plugged in, that's what Ovation does, but you get the added benefit of less worries about feedback. Already a low priority with an Ovation, but even lower with an SSB. Fits on regular Guitar stand too. If I was playing out, and didn't want to use the OFC2 for some reason, I think I would use a good SSB. |

Knowing you, ya bought it right. If you don't like it you can always get your money back out of it. Be nice with a Studio or a VIP preamp. (and a wider nut) |

Oh Yes... Of course I already bought it.
Why would I ask for advice Before I did something?
BTW-- I do have an extra can and a Studio and a VIP, so if I get inspired...
But I also like the OP-30. |

Location: NW of Philadelphia | I like it. The body is very comfortable being SSB. It projects as well as my Standard Balladeer (center hole, SSB), but not as loud as my 1627 GCA (Artist Bowl). I love the maple neck and plain ebony fretboard. Plugged in, its astounding. Keep in mind, I upgraded my OP-Pro to a Studio Preamp. |

BTW-- Everyone remember that it is winter, even it it might not be cold where you're at.
This came from Minnesota and it was COLD when it got here.
It is really comfortable to play, and it is loud enough for in my room. When I take it outside I will plug it in.
But since I haven't had an SSB for a long while I had forgotten how good they feel.
I might have to hang it lower.
I don't think that I will paint this one.

That is a Traveler EG-1... I got an EG-2 also.
The EG-1 is the LP looking-thing, the EG-2 is the Strat looking thing. |

I had a death in the family, then I got married, and for the last couple of months my ID got locked out when the forum switched formats apparently because of invalid characters in my display name. Anyway, I'm still alive and playing and still an avid T-top fan. To catch up:
- Yes, I have a couple of 1868T's and couldn't agree more that they are the ultimate gigging O. Even better than the American 1868 (though the latter sounds better unplugged. These are two very different animals plugged and unplugged. The same does not hold for the 1778T. The American 1778 is still IMO the best plugged guitar in the world.)

- no, Darkbar, you didn't drive me out (were you the one who told me to stop my "f-ing whining" when they did the inlay wrong the first time? LOL If that was you, whatever, no biggie. (They had originally gotten the colors backwards on the inlay but they fixed it and it looks great.)
- lastly, I'm almost done with a home made album so I've been focusing on that, but as soon as it's done I'll shoot more O videos as promised! (Thanks to everyone who asked. Yes, I'll do the whole song, and a long promised thank you to one Slipkid.)

No, although it kinda SOUNDS like something I could have possibly done. I was getting blamed for a lot of things for a period of time. Maybe I need to change the way I come off on my posts. I'm grossly misunderstood.... |
