Location: Fort Worth, TX | Today I've been attempting to learn my fisrt fingerpicked blues - Homesick Blues from the Fingerpicking Guitar Bible book. I loaded the cd onto my iPod so I could pause it phrase by phrase after I transcribed the tablature from the book onto Stefan Grossman's style tablature I posted about in another thread. I can site read that style tablature like a music score. After a few hours, I had the song down to where i could play it from memory. I love hitting the last chord of a song and hearing that Balladeer ring out for several seconds. The sustain of the re-issues is amazing. Being medically retired at age 58 gives me all the hours in a day to play that I want. Getting the Balladeer completely ended the boredom retirement had me in. I just wish I had a few more model O's to vary the sound. I have yet to be in the presence of an Adamas being played and can't find any in local music stores. With my daughter's wedding to pay for this year I have to content myself with one model O. I sure do envy you guys with a stable of them tho. After I bought a motorhome this year, I'll have to win a lottery before my wife will once again agree to me having a toy budget. In the meantime, realizing my goal of learning fingerstyle isn't as daunting as I thought it would be. wish I had some of you pros close by to pick your brains. |
