I have a 1968 ovation balladeer in pristine condition. It has no cracks, marks or scratches. Can anyone help me in determining its value. It says sn 1194. I'm the original owner and have the OHS case. Any feedback would be appreciated. As far as I can tell 1968 was when Ovation went into production in New Hartford?

Hi Markus. Welcome to the group. Based on the serial number, yours is a 67-68 and would have been built at the Hartford plant. It's very hard to put a price on the early Balladeers. Though I think they should be worth far more, sadly they don't *yet* have the collector's value like some other guitars. Sight unseen, my best guess would be $400 - $700.00, maybe more if the guitar is unique or if you catch the right buyer. Post some pictures. We'd love to see it. :)

This is just my opinion. Maybe some others will chime in.

Not that my opinion counts for much, but I think an early Balladeer in pristine condition will bring well over a grand. As in most things, you may just need to wait for the right buyer to come along.

Your opinion has more experience behind it than mine does and therefore is worth more. I'm still relatively new around here. I based my comments on what I've observed on eBay and I don't ever remember seeing a "pristine" shiny bowl come around.

Markus,
Ignore me and listen to Bobbo. But regardless, post pictures. :)

I think Bobbo is right, especially the part about the right buyer. An uneducated buyer would see it as just another older O, and the $400-ish price range is about right. But the uniqueness of being one of the first couple of years makes it collectible as opposed to just a cool older O.
