Welcome Kittyfiend. Are you fiendish about Kitty and that's why you're here? Love those great endorsees!

The 2071s are really, really good guitars for the money. No doubt about it. They are a pro-level guitar at a mid range price point.

Ha Ha. Actaully,I rescue cats, trap, neuter, release.
I have always wanted an Ovation Guitar, ever since I saw my cousin's. I think he had an'86 collectors.
I don't know if he still has that since his collection is constantly changing, and I now live in a different state, and don't see him very often.
I started to take lessons when I was 8 years old learning to read music and such.Kinda dropped it around 16, and haven't touched a guitar in say around 20 years, due to my career in building fake fingernails competitively and traveling around the world. I won the championship, so I'm ready to cut off the nails and start playing. I have 2 guitars at my parents, buy I don't want to wait until they
drive them down here some time next year.
I just want something with good sound that is comfortable and easy to play, and I don't want junk.

That's a new one on me ... fake fingernail championships ... that might be a fun convention to spend a few hours attending. Probably catch a buzz, too.

The Ultra won't disappoint you at all. If you like a more edgy look, you might consider a 1778T which is also a great guitar and in the same price range. Personally I think the 2071 is a killer guitar for the money. Make sure they give you the case with the guitar for the same money.

Let us know what you decide.

Amazing necks on those. Its like the Thunderbolt neck.
The Elite T probably closer in feel to it.

Check with Alpep. I'm pretty sure his price for a brand new one is the same or better than that demo unit listed above.

Whoa! You trap cats and cut their nuts off!!

Just kidding. Controlling stray cat population is really a sign of a true animal lover.

As for the Ultra, call Al. He's sure to have a bunch of nice O's in that price range.

I have played two off these. They were both very well done. Clean workmanship, great sound. The neck was good although it did have a celeb feel to it. For the money, hard to beat.

alpep is this Polish legend* who looks like a bear with a beret, but he never sleeps and he gets real grumpy around this time of year when you bug him about the factory tour.

now i get it
I got some nasty e mails about this guitar concerning the picture. I answered the guy in the flippant condescending manner that he addressed me.

anyway when I put that auction up the KMI image server had the wrong pic. I never changed it so sue me. I sold about 5 of those guitars with the wrong pic and no one seemed to mind.

anyway if you are interested in that guitar let me know I can close the auction and make a deal. they are a great value for the money

Hi, Kittyfiend...

By now (6 months and more since your post), you've already made up your mind, if you're even still reading posts. Still, just in case...

I bought an Ultra 2071 a couple weeks ago. It was a "scratch-n-dent" item, which in this case means it was a return, because I've looked carefully, and can't find a single scratch or dent. Ovation has discontinued this model, and because it was an "S&D" clearance item, I got it for $435. It's easily the best-sounding acoustic-electric (or plain acoustic) I've ever had, and I've been playing for more than 35 years. Perhaps it's not quite a Martin, but the sound is luscious, and it's darn close. Excellent workmanship. Good setup right out of the box. Gorgeous finish (mine is sunburst), very comfy neck, as I've come to expect from Ovation (I also have a T357 Tangent). For what I paid, it might be the bargain of a lifetime.

I was thinking he misspelled Arnold. If you're old you should fit in with this Old Farts Club.

I know the last posting of this was a while ago, but if anyone is looking for one of these, I have one for sale on Craigslist right now. $500 with hardshell case. Check it out here:
https://post.craigslist.org/spk/S/msg/none/x/BrAQGVdj9dFhStM8/vg4y5
I will ship anywhere in the US for like $50 (or whatever it will cost (I still have my original Ovation box).
I don't want to get rid of it, but I need the money :(
