Here is my 1977 1615-1 Pacemaker 12 that I bought on EBay for $100 as is...
I'm sending it to Mother in the next few days for a complete spa treatment: it needs it...
I can hardly wait to see the finished product!

I had my pacemaker redone and it came back amazing, however the soundboard was redone with the "latest bracing" I find the sound different than the old fan bracing, not better, not worse, just different, probably more stable. I'm working on a new Pacemaker project and going to get A bracing installed, but thats a whole other post and a whole other story.

Now you made me look...
My rebuilt Pacemaker has X bracing.
I would have to get a mirror to tell you if it is scalloped or not.

I gotta get me one of them dentist's mirrors.

It looks great as is! Probably only shows up when the light hits it a certain way. :)

Kidding aside I did not think one could look worse than mine but....
Good luck and let us know how it comes out.

Mikey, as you probably know, I'm very partial to A bracing in both 6 and 12 strings. My 69 GC rebuilt has it as does a GC 12 owned by Temp and an old Pacemaker, owned by Jeff W and now by Toby. In my opinion, it yields a much better sound than the old fan bracing pattern original used.

But to be honest, I don't know what the new X bracing would sound like in at 12 fret 12 string. I don't know if it would sound better or worse, and I suspect that the only way to know would be to have 2 identical guitars built with the only difference being the bracing.

Anybody here wanna give that a shot?

Thanls Paul, I did remember that but an not sure about the new bracing either...

I'm getting a glass bowl so that will certainly help the sound...just unsure about the bracing...is the new X bracing scalloped?
I should know this but can't remember...

Thanks for the help folks...I'm really getting excited about this re-build...

The new X is scalloped. I'm guessing that it ought to sound good. Maybe a little more open than the A braced 12 fretters, but comparison is the only way to know for certain.

Regardless, oughta sound great.....
