I'm sending it to Mother in the next few days for a complete spa treatment: it needs it... I can hardly wait to see the finished product! \'77 Pacemaker 12

Joined: September 2007 Posts: 108 | I had my pacemaker redone and it came back amazing, however the soundboard was redone with the "latest bracing" I find the sound different than the old fan bracing, not better, not worse, just different, probably more stable. I'm working on a new Pacemaker project and going to get A bracing installed, but thats a whole other post and a whole other story.

My 69 GC rebuilt has it as does a GC 12 owned by Temp and an old Pacemaker, owned by Jeff W and now by Toby. In my opinion, it yields a much better sound than the old fan bracing pattern original used. But to be honest, I don't know what the new X bracing would sound like in at 12 fret 12 string. I don't know if it would sound better or worse, and I suspect that the only way to know would be to have 2 identical guitars built with the only difference being the bracing. Anybody here wanna give that a shot?

I'm getting a glass bowl so that will certainly help the sound...just unsure about the bracing...is the new X bracing scalloped? I should know this but can't remember... Thanks for the help folks...I'm really getting excited about this re-build...
