Part of this year's pre-NAMM Festivites requires my hosting a visit from a certain denizen of Old Blighty in OurHome.

Paul Templeman will be staying with Us from Sun. 01.11 - Wed. 01.14 before winging his way West to Moodyville.

I personally feel that it IS part of My Duties (as Host) to make sure that Paul gets Good&Drunk the night before he leaves, so that looks (and feels) his VeryBest before traversing Our vast "Colony" (by air).

If ANY of you have had the pleasure(?) of meeting Paul, you know that that this normally requires the presence of several stringed instruments and a SOMEwhat "controlled" MobScene.

In order to achieve such (and NOT wishing to trash our TownHouse and pissing off our neighbours), I've sought "outside help".

There is a small, blue-collar neighbourhood bar (what used t'be considered a "GinMill" in the vernacular of OurFathers) about a mile or so from OurHouse. Used t'be a real local "dump" when we first moved here, and has since been taken over by a nice couple who've cleaned it up, "modernized" it, put in a bunch of plasma-screens around the perimeter walls for the "sports fiends" & do Live Music Fri/Sats.
I usually play there once a month. The owners, the staff, and a good part of the "regulars" have been good to Jeanette & myself whenever I'd play (or "visit").
So, I figured I'd bring "th'Circus" THERE.

Tuesday, January 13th.
It's a weeknight, I know, but it's kinda' the only night that I could coordinate it w/the bar & Paul's visit. Jeanette & I have just come back from dinner there, & I've just finalized everything with the owner. They normally have Poker there on TuesNite (TexasHold'em, I think), but they're gonna arrange t'move the Poker up into the dining area so that we can play at the bar.
Being that I've arranged t'take "off' from work during MasterTempleman's stay, we'll set-up early & start during HappyHour (5-6-ish) till "whenever" we decide. They play two Poker games (7:30 & 9:30), and since they normally just listen to satelitte radio while playing, I don't think they'll "mind" LiveMusic for HOWever long we wanna' play.

Being that the owners' have an autistic child, any & all Monies that Paul & I can harrass, shame, cajole, harangue, and otherwise "bilk" out of a roomful of defenseless, unsuspecting, TuesdayNight drunks into my rather large TipJar over the course of the night will go to the local charity(of the owners' choosing) benefitting NJ Autism.

On top of that, I've sent out some "feelers" to some of my local muso-friends to partake. Hopefully, this whole "charity" angle will help coerce them. I've gotten a response from our own JohnB., and MasterTempleman has requested the presence of Strumming12,(??) so hopefully we can recruit him as well. I'm "working" on others . . .

ANY and ALL Comers are WELCOME.
I've passed the invite on to OurOwn alpep, but he gracefully declined, citing ". . having to catch a plane to L.A. the next morning . .".

P@ssy.

If y'live (or can be) in the area of Chatham/Summit, NJ at the time in question, YourPrescence would be GREATLY Appreciated.
I KNOW it's a TuesdayNight, but . . it IS what it 'tis . . .
(Like I said, we'll be STARTING "early"(5pm-ish).

If need be, we can "put up" an additional guest, if you don't mind an air mattress on the floor of my MusicRoom.
There ARE those here who've partaken of said accomodations, and I'm sure (I hope) can attest that while it ain't "th'Greatest", . . it "Ain'tBad" either. It's clean, warm, comfortable, and in the morning, we'll shower you down, stuff a good breakfast into you, and shove you out th'f@ckin' door ON y'MerryWay . . .

consider th'Gauntlet "tossed" . . .

Wow. Sounds like a fantastic event in the makings, but I'm afraid it's a bit of a long drive so I must send my regrets. However, I will promise to keep the torch burning here in Moodyviile and administer a little hair of the dog.

Point OF Order Mr Chairman - aforementioned hooligan is no longer a denizen of Old Blighty. He emigrated. It was the only place in the world where he could dye his hair red and wear a skirt and be considered normal.

Have fun - it should be a great night.

Sounds like a great time, Cliff. Wish I could partake as well but that's not going to happen. Hope all in attendance have a great time.

I just might make that happen....

Dibs on the air mattress and shower down- and tell the kitties to leave some room in the litterbox.

Aw man, don't send Temp out here hung over. He's bad enough when he's sober and feeling good.....

And that air mattress down stairs at Clifford's, makes for a good sleep. Only trouble is you gotta climb stairs to use the can in the middle of the night. Do what I did and just start p!ssing in the corner......

If only they hadn't cleaned the place up!

I'm more comfortable in a "gin mill" than a "fern bar".
