I've looked around the internet some and have a couple ideas, but I thought I would try you all. Photographs And Memories may end up being a song for a slide show.

I buried my grandmother last january. you don't want songs that are too complicated, especially if it's cold outside. we could see it coming from a long way off, so the shock wasn't there. actually, it was a relief that she'd gone onto a place where she'd suffer no more. I imagined she was up in heaven having tea with grandpa. I know she missed him.

I never thought of it as a song for a grandmother, but I suppose it might work. I really like that version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Barred at the 5th fret started with a G, it sounds pretty good.

Take Me Home Country Roads was the first song I did for her, and it is close enough "take me home", but honestly, I never have liked playing it much. Dobro, I'll run those past the family. Now it's not my usual genre, but I found this song amongst the Christian artists Monk and Neagle. What do y'all think? Grandma loved to dance, and used to do the Arthur Murray thing for years. Dancing With The Angels D2 D2/C# Bm7 Memories surround me Sadness has found me I'd do anything G D2 D2/c# for more time Never before has someone meant more and i Bm7 G Bm7 A2 can't get you out of my mind There is so much that i don't G understand But i know (chorus) D2 D2/C# Bm7 You're dancing with the angels A2 G D/F# G A2 Walking in new life A2 D2 D2/C# Bm7 dancing with the angles A2 G D/F# heaven fills your eyes G A2 G Bm7 A2 now that you're dancing with the a___ngels G A2 2nd ending) now that you're dancing (to bridge) (verse 2) D2 D2/C# You had love for your family love for all people Bm7 G D2 and love for the father and son your heart will be heard D2/C# Bm7 G in your unspoken words Through generations to come Bm7 A2 G There is so much that i don't understand But i know (chorus) (bridge) Bm7 G G we're only here for such a short time I'm gonna stand up G G A2 shout out, sing halleluia because one day i'll see you again A2 D2 D2/C# Bm7 and we'll be dancing with the angels

"Great Is Thy Faithfulness," the old hymn, is another one that I've sung, too. In the end, your heart will tell you what's the most meaningful for you and your family as you honor her--and even though we can't be there with you, we'll be singing along with you from all over the world. Hugs, --Karen

Given that, I'd come up with a nondescript fingerstyle piece that can be gently presented under the slide show. It could even be a succession of chords in no particular cadence. The audience will not be distracted by a vocal performance of a song and they will not be looking for a meaning in what you're playing. Plus you won't be wrestling with lyrics that might not fit the situation. It's just nice music under a slideshow. You could then present a full song that has meaning and might fit the circumstances in another part of the ceremony.
