What that shows is that Tommy Emmanuel is a great guitar player and that Jorgenson and his band are at best 4th rate impersonators of gypsy swing. They are truly awful.
Tommy deserves way better. His playing was superb.

Thanks Randy. Jaw-dropping. I'm not as critical as Clive, honestly. Them dudes is better than I'll ever be, and I, too, am in awe of Tommy E. Rockin!!

Well, there's 7:13 I'll never get back.

I can take these guys for 2 or 3 minutes
(and they pissed THAT away with the "fretboard circle-jerk" before they started the tune)
and then I start looking for the remote . . .

I can hang in there with Tommy Emmanuel more than other players of that ilk. But that's damning with faint praise because for the most part, I'm with Cliff.

But that's what makes the guitar so damn democratic: there is a repertoire and style for everyone... on the same acoustic box!!!

I have an enormous collection of gypsy music, guitar and otherwise. But Jorgenson and his band are just way below mediocre.

Ahhh... that could be a reason for my opinion right there.
I don't know enough to tell who's good at it, and who's not.
And that's why I can connect more with Tommy Emmanuel than the others. T.E. will do renditions of songs that I'm familiar with.

Tommy may be one of the best guitar players in the world today. Jorgenson is a terrific player and from everything I've heard or read, a great guy.

But T.E. is one of a kind.

This is more what I like to hear

T.E. & Richard Smith

And no matter who plays them, I hate the sound of the Django style guitars. If Django were alive today, he's be playing an Adamas I, no doubt......

Mike,

Hang in there. You'll get the hang of it.

I'm still trying to figure out how to do a double quote.

Just heard some stuff by some poser named chopper or something like that: Like we want to listen to a "waltz in E minor" or "nocturne"... What's the point of all the notes?
