Just picked this book up at Barnes & Noble with some gift cards. The author is better known for his best-selling novels, but he started collecting 35 years ago and has amassed a collection of some incredible models, many of which he describes in this book with historical origins. Great hard-cover table-top read for acoustic and electric fans alike.

I've heard it's good. His wife is Faye Kellerman and I think she plays mandolin as well.

They had a promo piece in an airline mag a few months interviewing him. If that was any sort of preview, the book ought to be fabulous. Another guy who has established a pretty good collection I just read about is Keifer Sutherland.

Steven Segal is also reported to have a pretty amazing collection (alot of prior owners are dead rock stars ala Hendrix).

Better than good movies most of the time.
Steve Howe and Mark Knopfler are another two guys with serious, serious collections.
Templeman's got a great collection of guitar books. Which I am attempting to match.

I'd love to see what's in GE Smith's guitar closet.

Also Rick Nielsen and Joe Perry

I got this:

The Black Strat

A great read and great photo's...well done...I highly recomend it!

And also this:

Martin Guitars

Hardcover and signed By C.F. Martin 1V...
What a book....SWMBO is the greatest!

BTW: the signature inside both of my Adamas I's is way more valuable to me!!!

Side Note: back in 1977, I had a chance to see the collection of the fellow (name escapes me) who owned the Ax In Hand music store...what a collection he had at the time...I don't know what ever happened to him...or the guitars...some beautiful '58 and '59 Les Pauls...

This is a great book as well: I have gotten to watch first hand as Wayne works...I even got to help on my D-28...He is truly an American Treasure...and a fine picker as well...he also has a fabulous Martin Collection...

Building the Perfect Guitar

BTW: one of the guitars sold at Christie's in 2006 for over $160,000...

I've seen a very nice hard cover book a few times of John Entwistle's guitar and bass collection. He even had a few Ovations.

Just finished Kellerman's book. His personal collection is truly worthy of a museum. We're talking historic one-offs from the 19th century, many of which might be worth six figures. Besides the pics, the historic information is very interesting. Personable author, too. I found some flaws in two of his photographs, sent him an email (mostly praising him for his collection and thanking him for sharing it with us), and he responded in less than a day thanking me for pointing it out to him. Well worth the read.
