Some of you know I got a CC48 for Christmas. After taking it out of the factory box to give it the once over, I noticed it has a defect on the top below the neck that runs under the strings. It looks like a crack but it is smooth so if it's a crack it is underneath the finish. It may only be cosmetic.

Now I know this isn't an Adamas and I wasn't expecting perfection. Actually, I was just going to keep it, but every time I open the case, my eyes go to that spot. So, I'm sending it back. It was purchased from an authorized Ovation online retailer.

Some of you also know, I haven't played in a while and I have had a blast with this thing over the last week. My wife and daughter have been giving a me a hard time about playing for 4-5 hours at a time. As far as the CC48, other than the defect, I think it looks, plays and sounds great but I hadn't had it 24 hours and I was already thinking about upgrading. (Been here only a few weeks and you guys gave me GAS already!)

To make a long story short, I need some suggestions on what to get. The retailer I purchased from only carries Celebrities, so I will be getting a refund. So I'm in the market for a new Ovation.

Here is my wish list:

1. Multi Sound Hole (Just like the look)
2. Super Shallow or Mid Bowl
3. New not Used
4. American Made
5. Under $1,000.00

Any suggestions and comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Corey

Hi Corey.
You should reconsider this requirement. There are some absolute crazy bargains on high end used O's in this economy.

One thing you really should consider. If you buy a used Ovation , especially off the "for sale" section here you will get yourself an Instrument aged , openned up and taken very well cared of. Basically everything you are looking for, except New. You may even be able to get 2 for around $1000.00!
Personally, unless I get an Incredible deal I may NEVER buy new again.

How do the Ultra Series compare to Celebrity? I know how they are made but what about quality?

I totally agree. You can find yourself a very nice American made Ovation for a lot less. Then you can use the money you saved to buy a second one or to apply towards an Adamas.

1. Nice look.
2. Many, if not most here would pick a mid over an SS. I would.
3. Why? Here I'll pile on with the others, used .
4. All here will agree!
5. Oh soooo many options available...

If ya could narrow the field to some model numbers, I'm sure that someone here has what you're looking fer.

Good luck in your search!

Sounds to me you need to go my route and get an Elite T on your way to an Adamas.

I think Iffy has a very nice 97 collectors for sale for much less than your target price. They are great guitars, and very popular around here.

I thought Woody had a 1537 for sale for quite a bit less than $1000. If you'd go for a used one, that would get you the best and first of the Elites out there. You'd never regret it.

Al has got about a 1/2 dozen really nice used/demo ones for under $1000. I would give him a call, talk for 1/2 hour and make your purchase based on his recommendations!

First off, welcome Corey. Second, RUN don't walk, and get that 1537 from Woody . That is among the BEST wood top Ovation ever made, and you simply cannot beat that price. He has it listed on Ebay now, but contact him (MWoody) directly. Seriously, you can't get a better guitar, and for a steal of a price.

Check E Bay,
I have seen 3 2007 BCS collectors go for $600-$800 in the last couple of weeks. I am really impressed with the sound of this guitar. It meets many of your requirements.
God bless,
Steve

I forgot about the 07s. Al had these new for well under your price point. Call him and see if he has one left.

Call Al!!!! Check his website, lostartvintage.com to see some Adamas in your range. They are dealer demos, some deep bowl some mid bowl. If he still has any left, they are a steal.

Lot's of good advice here Corey.
Any one of the suggestions given will get you there. (especially the "Call Al" one)

For some people it takes years to make that Celebrity to USA Ovation move.
I think that little cosmetic flaw is doing you a big favor.

Corey, If you want a great deal and are willing to take our advise about a "Used Guitar" check out Trader Jims 1537 in the for sale section.
I can assure you that you won't be disapointed
