Location: south east Michigan | So there I was.... watching my bro-in-law officiate a college basketball game in Lansing. SWMBO was doing sister stuff back at the house. I sat through the first period then thought, hey.. I'm in Lansing. Elderly is in Lansing.
So I called, got the address, punched it into our newly aquired GPS, and praise the satellite gods... there it was! Less than a mile away!
I only had a little over a half hour. It would take an entire afternoon to do it right.
They had a couple Celebs, a couple U.S. Elites, a nice mid-bowl acoustic only Glen Campbell, and an '08 collector.
And they had tons of guitars. TONS! And mandos, and banjos and resos. And a wall with about 20 ukes on display.
I was surprised to see a lot of .. of... well.. crap sitting out also. The worst offenders being a couple of those gawd awful Pacific Rim Ovation knock-offs that you see on the web for $98. They were right in the same row as the real ones.
I tryed a 5k Martin, couple Taylors, a $750 Blueridge. Didn't find any Collings out but maybe I missed them. There was a whole row of Gretch electrics I would have loved to try.
Didn't see any Gibsons.
I'm sure anyone of us could spend an entire day in there. |

I think you're right about needing a day to see it all, and a full wallet. |

When we were in the US in July I took my GPS with North America loaded into it as we did a lot of driving.
Best thing I ever did.
The guy that sold it to me reckons they should be marketed as "Marital Aids"

And I very much agree with the marital aid thing. A GPS will make our vacations into uncharted territory much more relaxed. |

Location: Rego Park, NY, | Brad, Mr Wabbit knows that I like my GPS alot. So much that I upgraded to another Garmin GPS model 880.This model speaks the street names and has voice recognition and traffic reports. There will be times when you will lose satellite coverage. This actually happened coming back from Ski Sundown to Homewood Suites.
For the most part I am very happy with the GPS.
As for the marital aid part, my wife is not a good navigator. I just tell her to go to sleep and I wake her up when we get to our destination. |

Actually this is kind of funny, my son was visiting at xmas and first time he'd seen the car so he asked why does it talk to you in a brit accent? I explained that it's a british car so that's the default but you can select any voice you want. So he says let's pick mexican - I want to hear it sound like Cheech & Chong. |

I was there for about an hour or so about 11 till 12:15. Had to exchange a Christmas gift and of course pick up a couple other things.
Yeah, you can spend most of a day there. Saturdays in winter are pretty busy around there & they put on a lot of workshops on saturdays. They got one on 2/28 with Larry McCray I'm probably gonna go to. It can be nice living 1/2 hour away from there but it can be dangerous too.

Location: SoCal | GPS units are a godsend. I lived and died by Thomas Brothers map books and fought against getting a nav unit for the longest time. The first one I had, I could program for a british accent and did. Her name was Chloe (kids named her). She worked great until my wife got frustrated with her and called her a bitch. Then she just stopped working altogether.
I've not got one built into the car. Works great, can't go sliding off your dash when making hard left turns, but I can't change the way it talks. So it's remained an "it", not a "she"..... |

I received on efor Christmas and I REALLY like the tone, especially for Bluegrass style playing.
In fact I don't think I've played / heard a better guitar at any price.
I would be interested in your experience. |

The Blueridge was tagged at $750. For the short time I played it, I was impressed.
I really don't know what makes a Bluegrass guitar a Bluegrass guitar but I liked it's sound & playability.
I had no problem keeping my creditcard in my pocket. I played that nice Glen Campbell model and was glad I owned an AD-II. Playing the '08 Collector made me appreciate my UTE all the more. |

The '08 had strings that were less than new which I did try to account for. |

Location: Michigan | I breifly played a Blueridge when I was at Elderly saturday.
A model BR-70AS, from my brief experience if I was in the market for a Martin I'd go for it and save a bunch of money. Beautiful instrument, at least on the exterior. Didn't bring a flashlight and dental mirror to look inside & it sounded great. Good thing I was a little pressed for time cause I probably would have bought it. It was $550.00, just walked out thinking Saga must have some good QC set up in China.
