I have learned a lot about "what happened in the world of Ovation" during my years away from playing. Most of the rest of my waking hours over the holidays (who needs sleep anyway?) have been spent getting back up to speed playing my faithful old Ovation. (I incorrectly identified it in an earlier post Thanks to all of you, I have become much more knowledgable and discriminating in my search for my next Ovation (or, just maybe, Adamas ;-) I have found all sorts of interesting listings, here are two: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ovation-Thunderbolt-Red-Rare-Excellent-Awesome-Guitar_W0QQitemZ250349845482QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item250349845482&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trk parms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 http://brownsville.en.craigslist.org/msg/963023578.html That second one doesn't look like a "viper" to me? (am I getting better at this?) So, will these end up in the hands of OFC members? Meanwhile, I'm saving my pennies for my next one, a nice 12 string is what I am craving, but I may get partially sidetracked by the iDea guitar, just because it would be a nice tool to practice with… (I could never bring myself to cut into my acoustic-only Balladeer to put one of the iDea preamps into it.) I guess I need to email Al again ;-) Anyway, thanks for putting up with another verbose newbie post. -standing-

T-Bolt is nice too....specially with the original case. If somebody could snag it for under $400 they would have a nice deal.

There is always the Adamas I as an alternate choice (: Standing, If you are still wanting the acoustic sound you may want to check out Edensharvest's black 1581 Adamas in the For Sale section. I'm personally not very impressed with the unplugged sound of the shallow bodies. If you want an electric, there are a couple really nice 70's Vipers for sale also. As far as solid body electrics go, there's not a better guitar for the steal of a price you'll get one for. If you're really wanting something half way in between, that viper you mentioned would probably make you happy, but I kinda' like the VXT hybrid. Regardless of my opinion, both the guitars you mentioned are good ones.

It's available in US (EA) and imported (CV) versions. This is a great time to buy guitars. Take your time, there are plenty of good ones to choose from.
