| I purchased a Balladeer back in August and have been enjoying playing it. I noticed in the past few weeks that my action seemed high specifically on the higher frets. I had a friend come over to play he not only noticed the high action but pointed a hairline crack to me at the base of the neck. On further inspection, we noticed that that the neck was separated from the body of the guitar by about a 1/16th of an inch. You can slide a medium pick between the neck and the body. I bought it back to Sam Ash where I purchased it and they told me that their technician had to call Ovation to discuss the issue. If the guitar is not repairable, I expect a replacement. Any feedback from anyone would be appreciated |

| If you purchased it new AND it's a US-made Balladeer - tough for me to say since Balladeer production moved to Korea last year - the lifetime warranty to the original owner should cover any repair/replacement. Not sure what the policy is with the overseas products, but it's probably at the discretion of the dealer in that case. |

I said all that to say that if you purchased it new it should be under warranty.
If you purchased it used, Sam Ash may have a warranty.
Since Sam Ash said that they are contacting Ovation, you should have nothing to worry about...

| Thanks Arthur and G8r....it was purchased in August 2008. I'm concerned also because its a hairline crack and I don't understand why it happened. |

| Is the heel of the neck itself actually cracked, or is the heel intact and lifting slightly from the bowl? If it's a crack in the wood then it's a stress fracture from the grain direction change, especially in the area where the neck curves into the heel. Rare, but not unheard of in woodworking.
Do these have bolt-on necks? Is so it could just be a matter of tightening the bolt.
In any case, hope it works out in your favor (the way it's supposed to). |

If it has a bolt-on neck, it should be an easy fix.
But since it is less than six months old, you shouldn't have to fix it. |
