Anybody have any experience using one of these? Looks like a pretty convenient and inexpensive way to use personal headphones with an electric travel guitar.

Looks like it would do the job. My headphone amp is the Pandora PX-4. It has a lot of effects and emulations that are pretty decent. The price is more than that Vox, but well worth it if you'll use the features.

I've tried them out, and I'd buy one for <$20. They're not worth more than that--I think they sell for $35-40. I picked up a used Pandora PX4d from musicgoround for $99, and it does everything you could want and you can clip it right on your strap.

I've got one I used to use on my Chet A nylon string solid body. Works fine. I think they make several different models after different amps.

My 2 cents..

If you are just using it as a "let me use headphones" thing, but you want effects... find an old Rockman X100. There are plenty out there and plenty bang for buck... a multi-tool if you will.

If you want just "just plug it in to hear it" the little AMPlug is just fine.

Or a Thom Scholz Soloist, you can get one for half the price of an X100. Myself, I like my Tascam MP3 Guitar Trainer.
