I'd like to try MY CAD MIC SET to record the Adamas. Each of the two has a threaded base, no clips. Any suggestion on the best stand to use? I've looked and there is much to choose from.

Get one with a tripod base for best stability. The weight should not be a problem.

I have a hercules stand with tripod base and a boom attachement that's pretty nice.

Pawn shops are great places to find mic stands on the cheap. I picked up four for $20 total about five years ago, one of which was one of those fancy booms with multiple adjustments. As Stephen says, the tripods are the most secure, particularly if your using a boom attachment, but sometimes there isn't much floor space at the gig and I find a smaller round base fits in more spots than a tripod. Some giggers use sandbags to add stability, which could be important if you're hanging a guitar on the mic stand as well.

That helps, thanks. Are the threads on all mics standard, so that any stand will fit most units? Or do I have to worry about size of the mic?

I've always found them to be a standard thread and diameter. Any accessories that require something different (Galaxy monitors come to mind) usually come with an adapter to fit the standard.

Don't go cheap on the boom. The Hercules boom works great and is worth the few extra $. Tripods are lighter to carry around.

That sounds like words of wisdom. I've owned one boom mic stand that kept diving like a kiwi no matter what I did.

Since I'm using two mics on one axe, is there a trick to employ only ONE stand? Screw one mic on and clip it or something like that?

You can use the boom to hold the mic that's pointing down from above and use a stool and one of those desk top mic stands pointing from the side. As for using two mics on one stand, I've seen 'em, but I make do with what I got.

There are 2 thread sizes, and if it's not the big one then there's an adaptor for the smaller one. Most mike clips come with the adaptor or can take both with a concentric dual thread.

As for stands Hercules are good but the pros use either Beyer Dynamic or K & M (Keonig & Meyer) My preference is K&M. Neither are cheap, but every single component of the stands is available as a spare, so they can last forever. I've just replaced all of our generic mike stands with K&M and it was money well spent. That said, I was paying wholesale so it didn't hurt as much.

Easy. You need a stereo bar adaptor and an extension clamp. If you can't find 'em in the USA I have them. Maybe $25 or less + shipping.
