Asher Roth Was Not Involved In Airplane Melee
Posted Fri Jan 9, 2009 6:31am PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

Asher Roth wants to make it clear that he was not involved in the incident Wednesday that involved the detaining of a man on a Delta flight to Los Angeles.

I spoke to Asher Thursday when he stopped by the Yahoo! Music office to preview his highly anticipated forthcoming debut which is due out in April.

The fast-rising hip-hop star who taped a performance on Last Call With Carson Daly Wednesday said that some early news reports on the melee incorrectly placed him on the plane and involved in the ruckus.

Asher clarified that he was not on the plane and did not witness the incident. He stressed that his band's guitarist Chris Llewellyn is the hero who should be getting the credit for initiating the take down of a passenger who pushed a stewardess to the ground, attempted to open the exit door of the plane in flight and claimed to have a bomb.

Sheesh. Front man always gets all the credit. Even in his denial, the whole damn story is about how dime-a-dozen rapper wasn't even there. His guitarist, Chris Lewellyn, tackled a deranged guy who had thrown a flight attendant to the floor and was attempting to open a cabin door on a plane with nearly 250 aboard - AT ALTITUDE! Needless to say, a whole of bad things could have happened if Lewelleyn, definitely deserving of the moniker Guitar Hero, hadn't acted as he did. As someone who flys almost every week, I applaud his quick thinking and courage.

Asher Roth's "highly anticipated forthcoming debut"...

In a college-town, this is known as a 'CD Release Party' normally held at someone's house, a few kegs of beer and the band. $5 @ the door.

Good Goin' Chris! We'll try to give you some recognition here!
(And I hope you can find a Real Band...)
