I've found it's not always what they do onstage that makes (some? most?) drummers difficult/crazy, it's the basic mindset of guys who just like to bang the crap out of stuff.

I've never met a drummer who was the quiet type...

In my last band the drummer (who is an amazing drummer) was the quietest and most genuinely humble person in the band. I was gonna say that he is the exception that proves the rule, but now that I think of it, in our church's praise band, the drummers are the quietest and most affable people in the band. It's the keyboard players and singers that are trouble.
