The pictures need to be hosted on another server. We have a sister site that's very easy to upload pictures, sound & video clips.

Below the text box of your post on this site is a button labeled "Full Reply Form". Press that and you'll get a bunch of other buttons, one of which is labeled "IMAGE". Once you've uploaded your pictures, copy the link to the picture from that site, then come here and press the IMAGE button and paste the URL to the image in the dialog box. That's it, other than a gentleman's agreement that pictures posted here shouldn't exceed 800 pixels wide so they don't scroll off the screen & mess up the usual page formatting.

Another question, what clip-on tuners are best for the Ovation style head, mine is hardly big enough to get a decent position to grip. thanks again ..

I use the Intelli IMT-500. But you have to clip them on next to the bass E tuner, then often times, tune the bass E and A by harmonics at the 12th fret....

I use the Seiko pictured here.

Very accurate... fits on the end of the headstock well.

Henry B,

Acoustic magazine did a review of a bunch of them in issue 25. I have an H2 and it's great and cheaper than the H4 but then the H4 has additional features. Depends what features you need.

I vaguely recall that the Acoustic mag liked the Tascam GT-RA one.

I looked at a Boss MICRO BR Digital Recorder in a store the other day. It seemed to me that it did everything and more that the iDea preamp adds to your Ovation, at a lower cost? The only negatives I could see were a. size (although it's pretty small, could throw it in your case) b. it was not quite as convenient as being built into you guitar's preamp and c. buying a Boss box does not support our favorite guitar company.

There was a larger step-up model with more tracks, at about 50% higher price

Anyone use these?

Hi guys,
Finally I have got what I was dreaming about.
Its an Adamas W597 CB with OP-50.
My first dread(jumbo)in 1988 was Yamaha FG-440.I also played some ovation-like guitars but this Adamas is a dream. I love this Belle.
I was thinking about to change that OP-50 preamp with OP-PRO /Studio or VIP-5 What would you recommend?
thanks
Petec

First of all, welcome.

People on the board will answer your question more properly than me, but I´d like to ask you why do you need to change the amp? It is a very good amp already.

Welcome, MOH_Petec. Congratulations on your Adamas. Most people that have used both the VIP and OP-50 prefer the OP-50. Unless you have a specific problem with the OP-50 I would leave it in. As Miguel said, it's a very good pre-amp.

Thanks G8r,
I dont need to change it. I just wanted to know if it is worth. I noticed some problems with VIP. OP-50 has S/N ratio more than 95dB. I like that a-feedback suppressor.
But would like to know your opinion comparing OP-Pro Studio's Expressor and Drive feature with OP-50. I dont have opportunity to test it by my own.
Thanks
Petec

MOH_Petec, welcome aboard!

The OpPro Studio is a great preamp. I love the one in my 2007 Collector's edition. The compressor is a simple to use compressor. The aural exciter is a circuit that enhances overtones, giving the guitar a more woody sound.

For live performance I really like the OpPro Studio. Without it, I would always use a compressor. In my opinion, a mild amount of compression really helps a live performance.

The aural exciter circuit can make the guitar sound more woody, which can be a nice thing. But I wouldn't say it is necessary or that it is better. Your plugged in Adamas with the Op50 will sound terrific without an exciter.

Another option for you would be to get a decent compressor. The Aphex Punch Factory is a very easy to use and very nice compressor. I use it all the time now with my electric guitar and my daughter uses it with her Ovation with Op30.

The Aphex gives you the opportunity to directly plug into a PA for live performances using a balance mic cable or into a regular amp using a regular guitar cable.

If you already like your Op50, the Aphex Punch Factory might make more sense than the OpPro Studio. Though you won't be disappointed with the Studio preamp either.
