I'm looking for the lyrics and chords to Hal Ketchum's song, Trail of Tears. I've already tried the several sources that I know about like, chordie and cowboylyrics.com but there's nothing there. Any help would be appreciated.

Trail Of Tears
Sung Hal Ketchum

No more beautiful moons may we spend on our land
In the north, the scarlet council talks of war
And the long knives have massacred a tribe at Burnt Corn
We're not welcome in our homes anymore

There will be a trail of tears
There will be a trail of pain
And Jackson will have the Mississippi
And the twenty dollar bill
But for us the trail is all that will remain

No more songs of the hunter on the buffalo plain
No more smoke from sacred fires touch these hills
And the numbers of the people will grow fewer every mile
And the children will not learn Great Spirit's will

There will be a trail of tears
There will be a trail of pain
And Jackson will have the Mississippi
And the twenty dollar bill
But how long will the trail of tears remain

On the streets of Rapid City, on the road to Wounded Knee
There is whiskey for forgetting everything
But the old ones say there may be time
For learning from each other
The way that it had once been meant to be

There will be a trail of tears
There will be a trail of pain
And Jackson will have the Mississippi
And the twenty dollar bill
But for us the trail is all that will remain
Jackson's got the Mississippi
And the twenty dollar bill
But how long will the trail of tears remain

The chords should be easy enough to figure out....

Chordie lists it as a John Denver song here .

Sometimes I hate my inability to "suspend disbelief". The trail of tears involved the Cherokee Indians when they were forced to walk to Oklahoma. The Sioux, Rapid City and Wounded Knee had nothing to do with that. (Although Bigfoot's march and massacre at Wounded Knee was cause enough for tears!)

All true Canterbury. And agreed on Wounded Knee. I've been there. Sadness was only one of the emotions it drew from me.

I wouldn't be too hard on ol' Hal, though. Washichu have never been very good at getting the facts straight regarding any of the Red Nation but at least his heart's in the right place. He coulda done worse.
Remember "Indian Giver" by 1910 Fruitgum Company? (1969)
And how about "Indian Outlaw" by Tim McGraw? What the hell was he thinking letting that out?

Come to think of it, what WAS McGraw thinking about when he released that song? But along the same lines, does anyone have the chords to Hal Ketchum's, "In Front of the Alamo." This time, I think I've searched thoroughly online and can't come up with them. I found the lyrics, but no chords. I'm on a Hal Ketchum kick these days. Very good acoustical stuff.
