Two things really;
1. My Ovation Ultra 2178's OP Pro Electronics are stick in the can housing (the eject button will not eject the preamp)

2. My pickup doesn't seem to be working. I checked the connections to the can housing and they are solid. Already have a fresh battery and it powers on. The tuner doesn't seem to work either (I'm sure it's directly related to the pickup).

Can anyone please help with these issues? Thanks in advance.

Welcome Emeryfan...

I would first make sure that the pre-amp is pushed-in all the way...
Push on the end of the pre-amp towards the lower bout end of the guitar.
Then push the release button and snap your hand away quickly.

(Then get the flat-head screwdriver as a pry-bar... )

If you just bought this new from a nearby brick-and-mortar store, I would take it down to them.

I bought it yesterday from Musician's Friend as a scratch and dent item. It's in great condition with the exception of the pickup. Sorry, I should have been more clear on that.

If you are not familiar with the OP-Pro...

You need to push straight in on the button, and disregard that little arrow on the button.
The whole pre-amp should move in about 1/64th of an inch (a teeny bit), and then pop back up.
Even then, I often have to persuade some of mine to come out.
Unless someone screwed-it-up, hence the "scratch-n-dent".
If someone forced it in there, that might be why it ain't working.

It is early on the Left-Coast, maybe eventually some of the BFLG (fixer-upper-folks) will wake-up. :o

Cool, I appreciate your ideas OMA. I'm familiar with the OP electronics (I have an OP30 in my Elite T). That isn't as big of a concern to me as the pick up not projecting any sound out to an amp or the tuner. As far as the sticking issue, I'm sure I'll get it one way or another :p

The tuner is not connected to the pickup in terms of powering up the tuner. If you get no lights or anything when you push the tuner button it sounds like a preamp problem and not a pickup problem.

Once you get the preamp out, you can swap the cans and preamps. The Op30 has a different connector, so don't just drop it into the OpPro can, and vice versa.

But it is super simple to swap cans. Just loosen the two phillips screws you see inside the can on the edges. It will take like 30 turns to fully loosen them. That allows little wings to fold in and the can just lifts right out. Unplug the pickup and the output plugs from the can.

Reverse the process to reinstall.

You can see if your Op30 works in the 2178 and if the OpPro works in the Elite T. This will firmly diagnose if it is a preamp related failure or a pickup related failure. Then you can contact the factory directly or Musicians Friend for a replacement part. The factory gives superb service.

Sounds pretty solid. The preamp powers on. The little ^ and v flashes alternately like it's supposed to. When you plug it into an amp, it powers on as it should as well.

Okay, so I tried the OP Pro in my Elite T and the Pro did not work. It's my understanding that Ovation doesn't cover preamps or electronics. Is that correct? Thanks for the help.
