Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | At the Autism Speaks bash, Cliff had a set of telescoping soft nylon drumbrushs for use on the Cajone. They were pretty cool to change-up the percussion sound. Got me thinking of other possibilities. I picked a set of "BroomSticks" for my Cajone and after some time with them, I think they are a very worthy addition. They are adjustable, feel great in hand and can create a good range of both thump and brush tones.

Location: NJ | The telescoping ones're good because if y'pull them all the way out they make a nice, soft, shimmery, "brush-y" sound. Push 'em in a little so that they're a little stiffer, and you get a bit of a harder, duller, muffled "slap" . . .
Set one up each way, & y'get a good combination.
Which brings me to a point:
Cajons should either recommended to Single Guys (or Married Guys on "vacation") . . .
I reset-up my gear in my MusicRoom over the weekend, and I noticed that the portion of the face that produces the "snare" sound got a bit "chewed-up" from wedding ring-wearing participants.
It's no big deal, but I'll just have t'be cognizant of it in the future.
I remember at Amelia, Temp chasing that drunk blonde woman off the cajon cuz she was wearing 4 or 5 rings and was flailing drunkenly at it . . . |

I got a real good "deal" on the drum, so I'm STILL ahead of the game . . .
Besides, it kinda' makes it look like belongs to a "seasoned percussionist".
Send me an invoice for a "relic"-ing fee :D
Matty(John'sDrummer) was playing it too, and he can be a bit "heavy-handed" (and is also married).
It's a "Tool", not a "Showpiece"
It'sAllGood.
Besides, I'll probably be taking a drill to it this week when I "jingle-ize" it. :D |

If it can be "fixed" somehow, Unlike most cajons the LP Angled cajon has the front panel screwed on, rather than glued and screwed. So, you can just remove the panel and flip it upside down. The logo will be upside down too, but that's better than ripping your hands on delaminated plys.
I tape a big label to the top of my Cajons which says "Please Remove Rings!" (Or I'll have to kill you) |
