I've had a numb tingling in my right thumb and index finger for about two years now. Makes it hard somedays to hold a pick. Mine is caused by a couple of herniated discs in my neck.

My neck pain used to annoy me but I've gotten so used to it that I can't remember what it was like before it started.

So..............you got any neck probelms PEZ?

I hurt my back and neck in freak car accident in 2000. Seatbeat recoiled across my neck instead of my chest because the guide ripped out.
Its was a minor impact.
My back has been sore since I been trying to do cleaning in my house. It got out of hand as of the events of last year.

Pez, I pinched a nerve in my neck 4-5 years ago doing Push-ups of all things and I have had that feeling in part of my left foot/toes ever since. Strange!? Oh and I don't do Push-ups any more or anything for that matter. I'm becoming a true "old man"! Anyway, could have a Pinched nerve.

I'd get it checked out, Pez. I had problems with the 4th and 5th fingers on my left hand going numb. I had a collapsed disc and arthritis. I had C5, C6 and C7 fused in March. It took a year to get the proper diagnosis. I had some quack doing decompression therapy on me for nearly six months. I decided to go to a different doctor and a simple x-ray revealed the problem.

Usually results from a pinched nerve, maybe from sleeping in a poor/cramped position. Change your pillows and/or sleeping position and if it doesn't go away in a few days see a doc (preferably a neurologist).

Do you smoke cigarettes? Had a buddy have the same issue as you. Drs. told him to stop smoking. Eventually he did and the tingling in his left hand diminished.

Going through that now, as well as my feet and legs. Several things it could be....anything from carpal tunnel if you've been on the computer alot, to a pinched nerve. But being that it is biradial (both hands), a pinched nerve isn't likely. An MRI will be needed to fully diagnose the problem if it continues. It could be cervical stenosis, degenerative disc disease causing compression of the nerves, carpal, etc. But g8r is right. See a neurologist.

I can feel my index finger tingling now!

If you use computers a lot, or perform some other repetitive motion with your hands and wrists, you could have carpal tunnel syndrome. I think that's why my fingers are wimpy. I drop the pick and lose my grip in the left hand too.

Now you guys have got me worrying about pinched nerves in the spine. Go here to see a list of other possible maladies that will make you feel worse.

Peripheral neuropathy can be caused by diabetes. If you haven't had a good checkup recently, I'd go see a doc if it doesn't go away soon.

It could be carpal tunnel or another repetitive use kind of problem. If I spend too much time typing on the computer I get sore finger joints and tingling.

So, if it were me, I'd try some Ibuprofen and do no typing and little guitar playing for a couple of weeks. If it doesn't go away I'd see a doc.

Ulnar nerve.
Nearly paralyzed my left hand for almost a year while I "waited" for the numbness to go away. 95% of it eventually did but I still wake up in the middle of the night with numbness and sometimes while I am just reading or watching TV.....usually caused by the way I am resting my elbow which is were the nerve is.

Finally spoke to a neurologist while he was treating my wife and he explained how the symptoms are caused and that the only real cure is surgery. I plan to have it done sometime around summer.

Subluxation, circulation issues, tendonitis, repetitive strain, crepidis, etc.

You need at least two good diagnosis.
