There will be BBQ, Mexican, deserts and other foods and over 15 market type stalls for your enjoyment, plus watch over 30 LB USD teachers perform live in bands over 5 hours. There will be raffles and auctions and a guest celebrity. Plus the major silent auction item will be a never played and discontinued 1618-1 12 string autographed Glen Campbell himself. http://www.ovationguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=1957 Joe Montoya will be present all day www.therockclub.net the Rock Club and The Rock the Teachers Foundation. I mentioned a event that the Rock Club is having Feb 7. It is for the Rock The Teachers Foundation, it is a charity event which a signed Glenn Campbell 1618-1 will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the Rock the Teacher Foundation. Perhaps we could get some of the local OFC guys to bring some of their guitar collection and show them off. Let me know if we can get some of them to attend. Bill Ward from Black Sabbath will be the featured celebrity. _________________________________________________ just got this information maybe some of our CA guys would be interested in attending. it is sort of like a fantasy camp thing for guitarists. I am not real familiar with the whole program but will post more info when I get it. I unfortunately will not be attendance $$$ is just too tight at the moment

Joined: January 2009 Posts: 1 Location: Long Beach California | Hi Al and the OFC, I admire your club and your vision, well done. As stated, we are having The Rock Club - Rock The Teacher Community Outreach program in which 31 local teachers from Long Beach, CA are participating in our program. There will be a music festival happening at Wilson High School on Sat 7th of Feb from 12pm to 5pm, rain or shine. There will be BBQ, Mexican, desserts and other foods and over 15 market type stalls for your enjoyment, plus watch 5 bands perform over 5 hours. There will be raffles and auctions and a guest celebrity who is Bill Ward from Black Sabbath. Address: Wilson High School 4400 E. 10th Street, Long Beach, CA 90804 We are raising funds for the Adopt a Teacher Foundation, which provides grants to LBUSD teachers at the beginning of the year to assist with classroom costs that normally comes out of their pockets and also to introduce our program as a way to encourage the youth to keep live music in their minds as the school districts here are cutting music classes now. Full details regarding our Community: http://www.therockclub.net/rock-club-community.html The major silent auction item will be a never played and discontinued Ovation 1618-1 12 string Glen Campbell autographed by Glen Campbell himself. We would be delighted if you wanted to attend and have a booth free of charge for the OFC to bring some collectors pieces and discuss with the general public. We are expecting over 600 – 800 people there. Thank you again and I can be reached on 866 597 1116. Please visit my website in your local area and if we can get the people we can start The Rock Club program in your city. Have a great day and thanks again and apologies for any confusion. They will provide a booth w/power, even 10 minutes on the mike...figured the Tak book, Carter book, couple of O's and A's, couple of Hamers, and a couple of Taks...along with the iDea amp powered through a G-B acoustic amp. Kaman appears to be a serious sponsor...a couple of "rabid" fans and some "eye candy" could be important for the effort, the OFC, and support of our Kaman Rep.

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12750 Location: Boise, Idaho | I tried about 5 times to get someone at the local GC to show it to me. I have yet to find a salesman there that has tried it. I got them to put a battery in it, but couldn't get an amp to work. I got it working a little, but couldn't figure much out. The next time I came in, they had taken the battery out and hung it back up high where no one could reach it. It really frosts me to have too call some kid to bring a ladder and then get it down and they have no idea what it is. They should sell it as the "no idea".

Any other OFC'ers that could come? If nothing else, would be good to meet you and we will have some great guitars to check out. Addition to the list is the Adamas 2008C.

However, I had put "marketing" material together that I couldn't get to them. Heavy rains in SoCal, even hail in San Diego. Although for all of the years in Oregon - for the Northwest, it would have been a drizzle. They moved everything inside at the high school (Long Beach). Bruce gave me a couple of updates...Bruce, Michael, and Fred were there. No idea if there are photos. Maybe they will post how it went.

The "Rock Club" bands that played (made up almost entirely of high school teachers) were for the most part pretty good. I'd have to ask Frank how much money they raised for the Long beach area teachers.

The day went very well and we are looking forward to participating in their next event. The signed Glenn Campbell 1618 did not make it in time for the event. Frank asked us to help him auction it off once he receives it. Stay tuned!
