Hi, All! I have two Adamas 2080's and am about to receive a 1681...can anyone recommend a good oil for the neck and/or the fretboard? Also interested in a recommendation for a good humidifier for the 2080.

Many thanks in advance!

Alan

Hmmmmmmm...guessing that is not a completely serious recommendation? Or, is this just another guitar product of which I am ignorant?

Take a look at the archives. This subject has been covered many times. You'll learn stuff there and have a great time going thru back threads.

Hell, I don't even use 20-50 weight in my car anymore. And in the cold northeast, you'd want something more like a 5-20 weight.....

Some people swear by Dunlop, others by Fret Doctor (my favorite), others by just plain mineral oil. As far as humidifiers go, I live in Florida - don't need no steenkin' humidifer!

I asked this exact question to Kim Keller at Ovation. His short answer was "Mineral Oil." That's all I've used since.

I'm seriously thinking of trying this stuff, ColorTone Fretboard Finisher .

Mineral Oil seems to be the cleaner of choice. Dunlop makes several products for cleaning and conditioning your fretboard.

The guy who suggested the 20-50 Pennzoil needs a vacation.

Especially since the Real Answer is Castrol Syntec!

I use mineral oil for the fret board, Dunlop 65 to clean, And a Dampit for a humidifier.

Moody still sees the reflection in the toilet bowl and it scares him.

In a case of mistaken identity... a guest made off with the applicator bottle of USP mineral oil from my guitar bench.

Thankfully, they left behind my favorite stuff... bore oil.

For routine use, bore oil has worked great for me. Prior to that, I had no complaints with mineral oil.

I never looked at ColorTone Finishing Oil as a routine maintenance product. It has helped me even-out color on a few boards, but I find that, "...harmful or fatal if swallowed, combustible liquid and vapor", moves it out of the "routine class" for me.
