Location: Maine | I need to make arrangements right away to get an Ovation shipped from California to Maine via UPS. I've never done it before and neither has the person I'm buying the guitar from. Can I have some direction from those that have done this before on how to proceed with boxing, packaging, etc. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Have the person go down to their local music store, and tell them he needs to ship a guitar...
That person might actually bring the guitar or case with him for size comparison.
(they may want $5-$15 for the box, and get the cardboard 'bracing' that goes with it)
Put the guitar in the box with ghost-turds, stray newspapers, pizza boxes or whatever.
Then take the box to Office Depot (for UPS) or Kinko's (for Fed Ex)...
Borrow their packing tape and secure all the seams and corners and stuff again.
Give them money for insurance and shipping, and it's all done. :D
Oh yeah... Be sure to loosen the strings abit, not slack, but down two steps. |
